Connecticut recently passed legislation that allows for legal home grow rights for medical marijuana patients and all adults over the age of 21. There are a few rules to follow, and some parts of the law do not go into effect until July 1st, 2023. Medical Marijuana patients with a valid license age 18 and older are allowed to grow six plants per person. If more than one medical patient resides together, the maximum number of total plants permitted per household cannot exceed the 12 plants per household legal cap. Each medical patient is allowed to grow three mature and three immature plants at any time in their home. Currently, growing marijuana outdoors at home is illegal, and all cannabis home grows must take place indoors, be away from public view, and always be in a secure location. These rules currently only apply to licensed medical marijuana patients with valid registration cards issued by the department of consumer protection.

Starting July 1st, 2023, these same home grow rules and regulations will extend to all adults age 21 and older with the same plant counts and limitations.
